Introduction to Corporate Tax

Concentrating on basic functions and features, attendees will develop knowledge of ONESOURCE Corporate Tax and the skills to prepare corporate tax computations and returns through the use of specially designed case studies.

No ONESOURCE Corporate Tax experience required

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Navigate the interface in order to develop the sheets required to complete a corporate tax return for a company
  • Analyse the expenses in the income statement for a company and make any necessary adjustments
  • Analyse the balance sheet for a company including:
    • Calculate the capital allowances for a company
    • Complete a chargeable gains calculation for a disposal
  • Use the software to calculate the quarterly payments on account for a company
  • For an investment company, analyse the expenses of management
  • Follow the appropriate steps to e-file a completed tax return

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

All novice or new users who will prepare or review corporation tax computations using ONESOURCE Corporate Tax.

Group Module

The ONESOURCE Corporate Tax Group module provides an automated way of producing a group tax summary. The software will assist with group relief planning, group payments under CTSA, transfer pricing, global debt cap and patent box adjustments, allocating research and development expenditure credits, and transfers of chargeable gains. We have a flexible approach to the content of the course and seek to concentrate on those areas that are of greatest interest to the participants.

Basic knowledge of ONESOURCE Corporate Tax

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Navigate the features within group module of the software
  • Allocate group relief in a variety of different scenarios including consortium relief, non-coterminous year ends and using sub groups
  • Be comfortable with allocating group relief in a variety of different scenarios including consortium relief, non-coterminous year ends and using sub groups
  • Use ONESOURCE group module to manage group tax payments
  • Develop schedules to assist with allocation of research and development expenditure credits and patent box adjustments
  • Make adjustments to ‘special purpose groups’ that you may wish to set up such as transfer pricing, worldwide debt cap, group tax accounting

Tax Accounting – FRS102

This course introduces users to the new FRS102 tax accounting sheets in ONESOURCE Corporate Tax. The course will teach users how the current and deferred tax disclosures are prepared by extracting figures from the tax computation, helping to reduce time spent on tax reporting and tax computation processes as a whole. This course also teaches users how to complete the FRS102 group tax accounting sheets.

This course builds upon and extends the knowledge that users would have already gained from the ONESOURCE Beginners and the ONESOURCE Group module course. To derive maximum benefit, users should possess sound knowledge of the concepts introduced in those courses coupled with a good understanding of the concepts of tax accounting. These are two areas which are not specifically addressed in this course.

To enable users to develop, complete and use the tax accounting sheets within the software to create tax disclosures for inclusion in the financial statements.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Users of ONESOURCE Corporate Tax who are involved in the computation of tax provisions and the preparation of tax disclosures for inclusion in financial statements.

Tax Accounting – IFRS

This course introduces users to the IFRS tax accounting sheets in ONESOURCE Corporate Tax. The course focuses on how numbers are extracted from the tax computation to build up the current tax figures, helping to reduce time spent on tax reporting and tax computation processes as a whole, as well as how to prepare deferred tax disclosures using the balance sheet approach. This course also teaches users how to complete the group IFRS tax accounting sheets.

Partnership

This course covers all three modules of Partnership Training; Trading, Property & Investment. It introduces users to the Partnership application in ONESOURCE Corporate Tax. The course focuses the preparation of the tax computation, completion of the SA800, allocation of amounts to partners and online filing helping to reduce time spent in the preparation of the computation processes as a whole.

The detailed content of the course will be determined on the day by reference to the needs of the participants.

The areas that we can cover are:

  • The computation, adjustment of profit and identification of taxable and allowable amounts
  • The approaches taken to different types of business: trading and professional, property, private equity and investment
  • The impact of different types of partners: individual, mixed and CT partnerships
  • Partnerships used in corporate group structures
  • Online filing and limitations of HMRC systems
  • Linking to other files, e.g. to OneSource corporation tax files
  • The use of foreign currencies
  • Chargeable gains and partnerships

Users who have specific requirements, including matters not mentioned above, should make these known before the day of the course in order that we ensure that they can be addressed.

This course builds upon and extends the knowledge that users would have already gained from the ONESOURCE Beginners training courses. Attendees of this course must have previously attended ‘Introduction to ONESOURCE Corporate Tax’ training. To derive maximum benefit, users should possess sound knowledge of the concepts introduced in those courses coupled with a good understanding of the tax treatments afforded to partnerships in UK tax law. These are two areas which are not specifically addressed in this course.

OBJECTIVES

To enable users to develop, complete and use the Partnership application to prepare the SA800 and supporting documentation.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Users of ONESOURCE Corporate Tax who are involved in the preparation of partnership returns and reporting income, reliefs and gains to members of those partnerships.

PRICING

The fee for this training module is £1,100 per person. Subject to minimum attendance and we reserve the right to change date where necessary.

This training will introduce you to the ONESOURCE Life tax module for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2013. The course guides you through the process of preparing Life company tax computations in the software. Areas covered include commercial allocations, dealing with the different categories of the life business, transitional provisions and management assets.
